Zion I - The TakeOver
"Take OVer"
It’s been ten years since the release of Zion I’s debut single. Since then the Oakland based duo, Zumbi (lyricist) and AmpLive (producer), have released five LPs and a handful of EPs and mixtapes. And now Zion I is preparing to release, The TakeOver. Features guest appearances from Devin the Dude, Brother Ali, and UK emcee Ty. Over all the album itself gives you a strong vibe of their live performance.
In the past some of Zion I’s material has been labeled as conscious or backpack hip-hop. We’d just like to say that it’s just good music in general. But this album will take you for a little different Journey. Amp seems to have infused a good amount of funk and soul with a electro and hip hop. Lots of 808, funk guitars, and futuristic and experimental synth sounds and tweaks.
