L.F.- For those who don't know, tell us who you are and what is it that you do?
Sket- My name is Sket One and I do everything from graffiti to canvases to toy design to clothing design to product design etc etc, Hell........I create alotta shit!
L.F.- Who have you done design work for in the past?
Sket- I have produced toys for such heavyweights as Kidrobot, Wheaty Wheat, Red Magic, Circus Punks, Mindstyle and other clients include Universal Music, EMI, Graffiti TV, Sedgwick & Cedar, and Silent Skateboards.
L.F.- Tell us about your custom toys?
Sket- I do a lot of customs most of them having a theme or a concept behind them. They are all one offs and once done they are done. I touch upon many pop cultural things from characters to products to games, I try to makem fun.
L.F.- What is the process of creating and production of these toys?
Sket- Some of the current designer vinyl figures you see are produced by the designer sending a turnaround sketch of a figure to a factory who then sculpts the figure , They will make a rotocast mould from the sculpture, cast it in vinyl and then paint it just like the one you designed. Once they've made the mould they can produce as many or as few of your toy as you wish.
L.F.- How did you get in to what you do now?
Sket- I got into toy design by meeting Tristan Eaton (creator of the Dunny/Munny/Kidrobot etc etc) He turned me onto to designing skins for Dunny, and from there I was hook from customs to collecting I just really dove into it.
L.F.- Did you go to school, have any special training?
Sket- I went to art school, and have done graffiti and graphics my whole life so no real special training. I had a lot to learn when first getting involved with toys, you need to know a lot about production to actually create these toys.
L.F.- Is there any one specific you would like to thank, like a mentor or something?
Sket- Most def it would be all my piers, people like Tris, Mad, Huck Gee, Seen, Mimic, Chad, Baroness, Uman, so many people have taught me so many things about the industry and what to look for etc.
L.F.- What inspires your work?
Sket- Everyday life and my past, I usually pull inspiration from whats going on around me at the time and what is happening in my life or others, a lot of my character design has to do with emotions of life situations etc.
L.F.- What has been the most memorable expierence thru out your carreer?
Sket- Having my first show at Kidrobot NYC.
L.F.- Do you have a favorite piece/design of your own?
